Group courses – how come I don’t group by Level

Why do you want to join a Pilates Class?

When looking for a group class the key question to ask is: What is your motivation? Why do you want to join a Pilates class? And even though there are some Pilates super fans out there, who want to practice Pilates for the pure joy of the exercises, the majority of my clients would respond:

I practice Pilates in order to …

  • minimize my back pain.
  • keep my mobility.
  • overcome an injury.
  • be able to continue practicing my favourite sport

And there are even more reasons, why you practice Pilates for example to get back in shape after having kids, simply to dedicate some time to yourself and many more.

But none of my clients started practicing Pilates, because they love doing Pilates. (Most of them fell in love with Pilates after a while, though. 😊) Generally speaking: You are practicing Pilates in order to… be able to do something else – and that’s great, because it gives you a goal to work towards to.

What does that mean in practice?

This realization led me to structure my group classes based on motivation rather than experience level.

This means you train with like-minded people:

Training with like-minded people in turn enhances your motivation. Furthermore, I will ensure that exercises are tailored to your individual goals. At the moment, I offer the following classes grouped by motivation:

  • Pilates for Runners & Walkers – designed for those who love running, hiking, or jogging.
  • Pilates for Swimmers & Pilates for Racket Sports (Tennis, Golf, etc.) – supplementing and balancing sport-specific movements and preventing injuries.
  • Pilates Post-Natal – helping mothers regain strength and mobility after childbirth, with the objective of returning to their favorite sport as quickly as possible.
  • Pilates for Your Health – ideal for those focusing on general well-being, mobility and strength-building.

So, instead of grouping Pilates classes according to level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc.), I organise my classes according to your needs, motivation or type of sport.

Each group has a maximum of eight participants, which allows me to adjust the difficulty level within the class. If you’ve missed a few sessions due to injury or lack of time, you can still train with your group – just with adjusted variations of the exercises.

How I Ensure Individualized Training in Group Classes

To keep my classes inclusive yet challenging, I incorporate:

  • Different exercise variations for different skill levels.
  • Small equipment like balls, circles, and elastic bands.
  • Private sessions for those who want to have individual advice or want to use Pilates apparatus like the Reformer, Cadillac, or Wunda Chair.

Online & In-Person Classes – Train from Anywhere!

I offer both on-site and online classes, making it easy for you to train with me regardless of location. I frequently travel to Germany (Berlin, Munich, Baltic Sea) and France (Toulouse, Paris), but I am happy to meet you elsewhere in Europe as well.

Online training is a great way to:

  • Work out with me, even if you don’t live nearby.
  • Stay consistent with your Pilates practice while traveling.
  • Train with friends, even if you live in different cities or countries.

Each group has a maximum of eight participants, which allows me to adjust the level of difficulty within the class.
